Associate Solicitor
James joined Hannaford Turner in 2021 as an Associate in the Superyacht and Luxury Asset Group.
James’ practice is primarily focussed on superyacht, private jet and luxury asset related legal matters, and encompasses both contentious and transactional matters.
Superyachts / Aviation
James regularly advises UHNW individuals and family offices on a wide range of transactional matters including yacht sales and purchases, newbuild yacht constructions (30m to 118m+), yacht refit and finance work, private jet and helicopter sales and purchases. He has worked with shipyards on yacht construction contracts and other commercial matters and also advises on yacht ownership structures, registrations, berth sales and purchases and crew employment matters. James also acts for owners, yacht managers and brokerage houses in connection with other commercial agreements including central agency agreements, management agreements and aircraft operating and consultancy agreements.
Arbitration, Litigation and Dispute Resolution
James has experience handling a broad range of superyacht-related disputes, including English High Court actions and arbitrations under LMAA, LCIA and ICC rules, and has advised clients on issues relating to warranty disputes, charter disputes, crew employment and brokerage commission, as well as other commercial matters.
